Team Kintec takes on Chuckanut 50k!
March 19th saw three athletes from the Kintec Race Team take to the trails of Bellingham and Chuckanut Mountain in the 19th running of the Chuckanut Mountain 50km.
Chad Hyson, Mike Palichuk and Jackie Muir all had a fantastic day out on the trail on what was a gorgeous sunny day.
350 participants toed the line for this gem of a race in the Pacific Northwest that sold out in a matter of hours back in January. The race start with a 10k flat segment along the scenic InterUrban Trail with vistas of the San Juan Islands and the Bay. The middle 30k involves some serious climbing up and down Chuckanut Mountain with stunning views of Mount Baker on the famed Ridge Trail and a grueling one mile, 1500′ ascent up Chinscraper at mile 20. The last 10k then returns on the same InterUrban Trail back to the finish line at Fairhaven Park.
Look for some race reports coming soon and also good luck to team members John Atkinson and Mike Palichuk who are running the Sunshine Coast Half and Yakima Skyline 50k respectively this weekend.
Happy trails!
